Begin with the saint, feast, or scene, then choose the format and size appropriate to its setting. Hand-painted originals, mounted reproductions, paper prints, and digital files differ in price, texture, durability, and production time. Read the listing to understand the source image, technique, materials, inscriptions, and blessing status.

Measure the prayer corner, wall, or shelf and consider how the icon will stand or hang. Sacred images should be purchased and displayed with reverence, not merely matched to decor. For gifts, confirm the intended saint and spelling variants. If authenticity or canonical treatment is uncertain, ask the iconographer, seller, or your priest.
