For home use, start with a small package and a mild fragrance until you understand its smoke and strength. Check whether the incense is resin, grains, chips, or formed pieces and what burner or charcoal it requires. Electric warmers and charcoal burners produce different scent and smoke levels.

Use incense only with ventilation on a stable, heatproof surface, never unattended. Keep hot charcoal away from children, pets, curtains, and shelves.
